Contemporary knitwear: Everlasting Sprout

Started by Keiichi Muramatsu and Noriko Seki, Everlasting Sprout is a Japanese fashion label specialising in knitwear. Founded in 2005, the duo has been creating amazing contemporary knitwear that is both sensational and slightly theatrical.

Both Muramatsu and Seki graduated from Bunka’s knit design course. Their collections each season are thematic and almost costume-like at times. Truly unique, each piece of item is meticulously crafted, with the designers sometimes spending as much as a week working on a single piece of clothing.

Also noteworthy is their work for International Fashion Art Biennale inSeoul, 2010. It shows knitwear’s ability to create a delicate and fragile look, one that is whimsical and quirky at the same time. It’s fun, conceptual and unique, I’ll be sure to check this label out the next time I’m in Japan.
