Fashion Events Calendar-Singapore 2011

We all know that fashion works in cycles and the fashion cycle of different countries run a little differently.  So let’s have a short summary of some of the events that will be going on in Singapore this year in 2011.

The Fashion Season Orchard (25th March – 8th May 2011)

During which they had the ‘Best Fashion Window Display Competition’, swap pre-loved clothing with others at the ‘Green and Gorgeous’ Earth hour fashion party, have students redesign past season garments (Fashion Reglammed! ), see the new collection from G-Star, MaxStudio.com and BCBGMAXAZRIA etc. (The Best of Spring/Summer ) and ‘the latest Spring / Summer Collection by international fashion labels such as Alldressedup, Denizen, Dockers, Levi’s, New Look, Paule Ka, T. M. Lewin, Vivienne Tam as well as newly launched labels from Robinsons. ‘ (Orchard Fashion Runway). Other events include fashion styling workshops, mini fashion shows, music performances, film screenings, and photography/art exhibitions. (StyleSpace on 4 at the fourth floor of TANGS Orchard. Event still on till 22nd May 2011)
 

Men’s Fashion Week 2011  (30th march- 4th April 2011)

The five-day men’s fashion event showcased the Autumn/Winter  2011 collections renowned brands from Singapore, the Asian region and internationally. Brands involved are Atzu, A. Testoni,  Boss Black by Hugo Boss, Canali, Dress Camp, Emmanuel, Feiyue, G.I.L. Homme, Kim-Choong Wilkins Raoul, Reckless Erika,  Shanghai Tang, Song for the mute and Songzio. See here.

Asian Fashion Exchange (11th may 2011- 22nd May 2011)

Consisting of key events such as key events such as Blueprint, Asia Fashion Summit, Audi Fashion Festival and Star Creation, the venues are mainly held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza along Orchard Road.

Audi Fashion Festival ( 13th may- 19th may 2011)
Held at Tent @ Ngee Ann City, Zouk and respective nightclubs.
With the theme “Driving Imagination”, this year’s Audi Fashion Festival will feature s both Asian and international designers.

Expect International designers like Missoni, Atelier Swarovski by Prabal Gurung, Tiffany & Co., Fashion by Vera Wang, Greyhound and Singapore designers like alldressedup and Raoul. Highlights include Ungaro’s Autumn/Winter collection by Giles Deacon himself, Zouk’s flea market and after-parties at Attica, Stereolab and The Butter Factory. ( from 13th – 19th May 2011)

Asian Fashion Summit (18th- 20th may 2011)
Held at Raffles City Convention Centre

Organized by the TaFt, this conference includes ‘keynote Presentation, Interactive Panel Session, Small Group Workshop and Interviews to deliver value to delegate. insights on topics such as the global trend on consumer behaviour, Asia ‘new’ Luxury, the Asian youth consumer and a new retail concept… Debates and discussions on critical issues such as market penetration, roles of visual merchandising, m-commerce and social media for the fashion world will form a major part of the summit, and these will be delivered by people at the forefront of fashion knowledge for those who want to lead the fashion revolution and fashion industry development in Asia.’

Star Creation (16th may 2011)
Held at Tent @ Orchard
With the theme of ‘ Internationally Asian’, ( exploring the meaning of being Asian in an increasingly international and modern environment), 12 finalist will showcase their designs to the panel of judges -Colin McDowell, London Sunday Times Fashion Editor and Audi Fashion Festival Creative Director, David Wang, Chairman, Designers  and Retailers Group, Textile and Fashion Federation (Singapore), and Douglas Benjamin, CEO of F J Benjamin (Singapore).  *Famous London-based designer, Marios Schwab will be a judge too!

 

Women’s Fashion Week ( 19th Oct- 23rd Oct 2011)
Held at Marina bay Sands Convention Centre

Such an exciting year ahead for Singapore’s fashion scene isn’t it. I’m so proud of what our creative industry has achieved so far.
