Wearing the pants

There has been a lot of looks that do not lean towards a particular gender this season. Trousers and dark colours for women, feminine details and bright colours for men.

I believe this ‘gender-less’ look will evolve and eventually grow into a standard in future. Every woman needs a power suit once in a while and men just need to get used to showing their legs.

Super young and talented, Jonathan William Anderson’s love of stage costumes brought him to fashion. By the time he graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2007, he had already made his London Fashion Week debut. JW Anderson’s AW 2011 women’s collection features much cleaner lines and darker colours compared to past seasons. I especially like the minimal look and the no-fuss attitude.

The looks are not sexy or feminine. Neither are they whimsical, girly or pretentious.  They are not made to help us create a façade but rather, they are just clothes; a simple top to keep us warm in winter and a nice pair of trousers to move around in.
