Accessories: de Bernard Mas

I was shopping online the other day when I came across a jewelry designer that intrigued me. Simone de Bernard Mas, Florida based designer of de Bernard Mas, not only designs but also creates the pieces herself. (jewelry designer aka metalsmith). Inspired by her background of growing up in the Caribbean, her works mainly created with oxidised metals and semi-precious stones, displays an interesting range of textures and colours.

Earrings with imprint of Caribbean sea urchin shell. Creatures from below the sea has always amazed me, they always seemed like they are from another world.

Rings with fossil and coral imprints. (From the Lusca collection.)

This is indeed a statement piece. I was curious about the materials that make up the piece and was surprised by the description. ‘ Black Pervian Ammonite, Fossilized Horse Tooth, and Petrified Wood Beads.” Sounds like it’s really old and took a wlong long time to process.

Lip service collection. Surreal imprints of lips. Frankly this looks more like an sculpture then an accessory.
