Simone Rocha: Sheer as daylight

I dig the whole hard and soft look and surprisingly, not everyone does it and not quite as well as Simone Rocha.  Rocha’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection features strong pieces of chiffon, fur sleeves and edgy blazers.  Young and talented, Rocha’s works are surprising urban and accessible.  Born in Dublin, Rocha graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London.

Having just debuted with her Spring/Summer 2011 collection at London Fashion Week, Rocha’s collections have been stocked at Topshop and Selfridges.  Nearer to home, they are stocked at I.T. in Hong Kong and Sister in Tokyo.

Sheer seems to be determined to stay a couple more seasons.

I love the edgy white minimalist shirt with the feminine nude-coloured skirt.

Perhaps the only colour in the collection, a tinge of red and salmon, also evident in the make-up.  A great choice to complement nudes and monotones.

I’ll be sure to check out her pieces the next time I’m in Hong Kong or Japan.
