Danielle Scutt: Lipsticks and tea pots in a sea of black

I came across designer Danielle Scutt in the previous issue of POP magazine and have been deeply intrigued by her creations ever since.

A Central Saint Martins graduate, Scutt showed her first freelance collection in 2008 and has won the Lancôme’s prize for Modern Femininity and the Chloé prize for the best fashion designer.  She counts Gwen Stefani and Agyness Deyn amongst her customers.

It is known that Scutt admired Helmut Newton’s works and perhaps the extreme masculine and feminine qualities of the collection shows that influence.  Incredibly sexy and edgy at the same time, the collection is dark and mysterious while maintaining feminine qualities with flowing skirts and stripy heels.  The selection of jewellery, however, is quirky and fun.  Statement pieces I desire to own.  Apparently, these were part of a collaboration with Freedom at Topshop.  I am totally kicking myself for missing this. Let’s hope that there are more collaborations in the near future.
