Central Saint Martins: F/W 2012

How many graduation shows in the world warrant a full blown fashion show during fashion week?  With Professor Louise Wilson’s reputation of churning out an amazing alumni of creative designers, it is no wonder the Central Saint Martin’s fashion show is a show not to be missed during London Fashion Week.

This year, it seems the garments have all morphed into pieces of works that shun the body.  No longer celebrating the female form, but trying to create another silhouette with a life of their own.  Perhaps to even create another identity so as to hide the wearer’s actual silhouette.

I now realize, I am subconsciously attracted to interesting fabrics, forms and textures.  In so many ways, I am interested in what the fabric will say to the designer, and what kind of garments will be constructed from these interesting fabrics.

One of the designers that interest me is Mei Lim Cooper.  Her designs captured my attention with the interesting ‘stripe’ textured fabric and her creation of interesting forms.

My kind of aesthetic; seemingly simple silhouettes with a twist.
