Ann Cathrin November Høibo at HOK

Come 22 March 2012, Henie Onstad Art Centre (HOK) will present a new site-specific project by emerging artist Ann Cathrin November Høibo.  The art centre has a history of showcasing experimental and cross-disciplinary artworks with a focus on performance and music, presenting works by international modern and contemporary artists.  Ann Cathrin November Høibo’s large-scale installation will be prepared in the temporary studio at Henie Onstad Art Centre where the artist will have ample opportunity to get to know Henie Onstad and the building.  In that way, Høibo’s installation adds to a long tradition of artistic experiments at HOK.

Høibo lives and works in Oslo, where she achieved her Masters in Fine Art.  She was the first recipient of the Sparebankstiftelsen art prize in 2010.  Working mainly with installations, Høibo combines studio production with site-specific works.  Høibo’s works are informed by a feminist critique of the fashion and media industry, but remains engaged with the formal questions of art production.

Some believe that art last much longer than fashion.  So what does it mean to ‘frame up’ a dress and eternalise it as an artwork?

The installation will be on show from 22 March to 27 May 2012 at Henie-Onstad Kunstsenter, Sonja Henies vei 31, 1311 Høvikodden.
